The hubby and I traveled to Vegas recently with his law firm for their annual office trip.   We had so been looking forward to this little getaway of ours.  On the way there, we had a layover in Dallas, at the Love Field Airport, where my mom met us and picked up our kiddos.  They were going to have a fun-filled weekend at KiKi and Pop's house with their cousins while mommy and daddy took this "much needed" getaway.  :-)

Once we arrived at the Vegas airport…we found out that Southwest Airlines lost our luggage.  GULP…my heart sank.  Everything was in the suitcase…clothes…my make-up…jewelry…etc.   We had to fill out some paperwork in the baggage claim area and the airline said they would do their best to have our luggage delivered to our hotel by the next morning.  When we finally caught our cab to head to our hotel--we were both pretty frustrated…and a little afraid that maybe someone had stolen our suitcase.   Thankfully though, they found it and it was delivered to our hotel around 8am the next morning. Whew!!

We stayed at the Wynn, which I really loved….very nice and elegant (well, as elegant as I guess you can make a casino look/feel. :-) )  We don't drink, smoke or gamble…so it was interesting to walk around and take in all the people there and how they were acting and dressed.  It was pretty much all that I expected…so I wasn't too freaked out by anything.  The constant smoke smell kind of bothered me, but other than that--it was fun to people watch while we walked around the casinos.

Inside the Wynn, they have all sorts of beautiful floral designs…absolutely gorgeous.
My favorite was this floral carousel…

We enjoyed walking around and looking in all of the wonderful shops in our hotel the first night there.

This Popeye is on display at the Wynn…the owner bought it for $28 million dollars…ahem…yes, that's right…$28 million dollars!! Holy moly!!  I was shaking my head when the security detail who stand guard around it all day were telling us about it. There are so many other things I would want to buy for that kind of money--oh my goodness…I'm still shaking my head over that one.

Here are some pics of our hotel room…it was soooo nice and the bed was so comfortable.

On our 2nd day there…we had fun walking around some of the other casinos and shops.  Here are just some random pics from those places...

The breakfast buffet at our hotel was amazing…I was a bit more enamored though with all the yummy sweets they had to eat rather than a healthy, nutritious breakfast. :-)

The zip line in the older side of Vegas…it was fun to watch the folks glide across the sky.
Noah would love to do this some day I'm sure...

We enjoyed doing a little shopping for the kids while we were there, too…
we knew we couldn't come back home without a gift or two for each one of them.

While there, we went to a show at the Venetian…it was Human Nature.  I loved it…highly recommend it if you're going to Vegas.  What makes it so interesting…it's these four white, Australian guys who sing Motown music and man…they can sing it!  Such an entertaining show…in fact, most of us in our party (my hubby's coworkers and spouses and us) we stood and were dancing for a good portion of the performance.  I grew up listening to Motown music…my mom and grandmother would always play it for me, my brothers and cousins and we'd dance around my grandmother's living room--so it brought back so many fond memories of my childhood listening to all these great Motown songs.

At the end of the show, I told Jody I had to get a CD for my mom and have the guys autograph it (I kind of felt like a dork asking them for their autograph…but oh well)…mom was so excited when I gave it to her when we got back to Texas.  Made it worth the wait in line for their autographs.  :-)

Oh my goodness…the food in Vegas is to die for.  Everything we ate was wonderful.  I completely blew off my calorie counting while we were there.  One of my favorite was the Red 8…it's Asian cuisine and was so yummy.

Our last day at the hotel…trying to stuff/pack everything back in our suitcase before heading to the airport.

Oh one last tidbit...Jody and I spent an afternoon at our hotel's spa the day before we left and had a couple's massage.  It was honestly the best massage I've ever had.  There was a fireplace in our joint room which made it even more relaxing and romantic.  Loved it!!

I also spent an afternoon in the hotel's salon where I got a new hair cut and chopped my hair off.  I love my new hairdo…it's so much easier to fix in the mornings--which is what I need at this stage of my life. I don't have time like I used to-- to spend an hour in front of the mirror primping-- with a 2 year old and 3 year old running around the house getting into everything.

So the spa and salon at the Wynn were absolutely wonderful…I highly recommend both if you are ever out that way visiting and want to be pampered.

This picture cracks me up…we bought the hubby some new tennis shoes while we were there and I told him these old ones that he's had FOREVER were not coming back with us to Texas.  He was having trouble saying bye to them before we checked out of the hotel.  :-)

We made it back to the Love Field airport in Dallas later that Sunday afternoon where we were excited to meet my parents and the kids.  As much as I enjoyed our getaway, I was definitely ready to see my kids.  It's so hard to be away from them…it's hard to relax when they're not with me.  I'll readily admit that I tend to be one of those "worry-wart" mamas…I"m sure my mom got tired of me texting and calling to check on the kids.

We were so happy to see them and super grateful to my parents for lovingly caring for them while we took this little trip.  We spent about an hour visiting with mom and dad and then had to say our good-byes and catch our connecting flight back to Harlingen.

We so enjoyed our time in Vegas…a fun place to visit--I'd never want to live there…
but it's definitely an entertaining place to visit.

Especially if you like to people watch as much as I do.
