Gingerbread house

Nick, "the Elf", delivered a gift the other morning. It was a matching chef hat and apron
for the kids, along with a gingerbread house and train kit to decorate.

We decided to tackle the gingerbread house first as a family and see how
that went before pulling out the train to put together.  With a 2-year old and
3-year old--we knew it might be a bit challenging to do it without meltdowns.

Noah had fun trying on the chef hat/apron that Nick left for them...

And then he helped Gavin put it on...

The gift was definitely a hit...
the boys loved it.

Baby girl wasn't really interested in trying it on...
so we just let these two enjoy it.

They decided not to wear the apron and chef hat while putting together the gingerbread
house because they said it was getting in their way...
so we put it away and started decorating the house.

Despite a some bickering over Gavin and Taylor eating the candy decorations
and then who would put what decoration where on the house...oy!
we were able to finish our first gingerbread house without any major hiccups.

It was a lot of fun and turned out pretty cute...
I definitely think we'll make this a new family tradition each Christmas.

Noah and I decided to hold off on putting together the train until a more quiet time
when he and I could do it together without the little ones eating all his candy. :-)

Afterwards, Tay-Tay had fun prancing around in her John Deere boots and diaper.
We were cracking up...she is such a little ham.

What a fun family activity this was as we head into Christmas.

  1. So precious. Our girls have been decorating houses for years. We found the key was to purchase the ones pre-assembled, and also buy the BC icing in the squirt can. Easy for little hands to do on their own and it dries super fast. Love Taylor's boots!!
