Behind the scenes: Halloween 2013

Hi there...

It's been a while.  Life has been super hectic for our little family here lately and so my blog posts
have had to be put on the back burner, unfortunately.

It feels like I've been living out of a suitcase for weeks....
We traveled to our hometown to be with my family for my grandmother's funeral--
which was a hard thing to do---having to say our final good-bye to her.
But despite having to face the sting of her loss--we ended up having a
really special weekend for our family. I was able to spend some quality time with loved
ones I haven't seen in a very long time.
I'll write more about Nanny's funeral in a later blog post.

And then, as soon as we returned home from the funeral, Jody and I were back to packing
2 days later and left for a 4-day trip to New York City.
We've been planning this much needed getaway of ours for a few months.
As you can probably imagine (wink...wink), I have lots of photos to share with you from
our time in the Big Apple.  Wow!!  Such an amazing city!

For today, I thought I'd do a quick post with some of the
"behind the scenes" pics of Princess Leia, Chewbacca and Darth Vader and
the three ring circus we had going on around
here as we attempted to get a cute photo of this trio.

As I was uploading these to my computer last night, I was cracking up at
each picture and their expressions---it was definitely a challenge trying to
get all three to look at the camera at the same time and all the while---try and avoid
little Taylor taking a nose dive off the bench in the process.  :-)

Here are a few of my favorite....

Noah's (a/k/a Darth Vader around these parts) forced smile was cracking me up...
we told him that no matter what happened---
just keep smiling and look straight at the camera!
And he did, bless his heart! :-)

And poor little's like 90 something degrees here in South Texas right now---
and so poor thing --after just wearing his costume for 5 minutes--
he was already itching and burning up.

And well, Princess Leia---she was just happy and content to be a part of this trio--
as long as we didn't try and put any shoes on her---she hates wearing shoes! ;-)

We were able to keep Princess Leia pacified by letting her gnaw on my car keys...
I know---so NOT sanitary---but whatever worked at that moment--
we were willing to let her do it.

Chewbacca had not seen Darth Vader's new mask--
it's that talking mask--
that also makes the scary, creepy deep breathing noise...

Huummm...yeah...Chewbacca was not a fan AT ALL!

Thankfully, no one was injured during our little photo shoot--
I was stressing that baby boy and/or Taylor would fall off the bench
while I was snapping these photos.

My car keys were soaking wet from Taylor sucking on them the entire time
and let's see---
like I said, baby boy became unglued when Noah put on his Darth Vader creepy
talking mask and immediately burst into tears---but other than that--we survived.

Oh and fyi....the hubby was standing off to the side of the bench
the entire time I was snapping these pics--- ready to catch
a baby if they started to fall off the bench.
Thank you Honey---you were a lifesaver! :-)

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween and ate lots of chocolate!!
After we took the kids trick-or-treating...they passed out in
the car ride home--woo-hoo!!---so the hubby and I decided to treat ourselves with
a fast drive-thru run at the new Krispy Kreme store in town and then
some hot chocolate from Starbucks...yep--definitely blew my calories for the day (ouch!!)--
oh well---it sure tasted great!!
