Belated Christmas post...

If you read my previous post, you know that our crew was hit pretty hard
with the flu bug. I'm happy to report that we're all feeling much better now.
And thankfully, Taylor and the hubby seem to have avoided it. Whew!
We were praying so hard that baby girl wouldn't catch it.

I have some catching up to do now with my blog posts from the holidays.
I thought I'd start by sharing pics from the first part of our trip back to
East Texas to visit our family for Christmas.

We left two days after Christmas and flew to East Texas
to spend the remainder of the holidays with both mine
and my hubby's family in our hometown.

I was dreading the flight's definitely more challenging flying now
with a 6 yr. old , a one-yr. old and a newborn.
Good news though, Southwest Airlines now has a direct flight from
our local hub to Dallas.  It's only an hour-and-half flight, so that is really nice for us.
On the day of our flight, Noah was super excited (as always) to get on the airplane.

The flight went really smoothly and we then rented a car and
made the two hour drive to our hometown.
My brothers and their families joined us at my mom and dad's home.
It felt so good to be home...I love getting to spend time at my parent's place.

It's especially nice to be there at Christmas and now watch our
children play together and open their Christmas presents.

It seems like yesterday that it was me and my brothers in this same den
squealing with excitement as we opened our own presents from Santa.
It's amazing how fast time flies by as you get older.

This year, the family was all excited to see Taylor Elizabeth...
especially her older cousin, Ava.
She LOVES helping take care of her and giving her a bottle.

We had a great time laughing and talking while together.
I love when we can all get together like this and catch up.
I was a little sad that my youngest brother, Jeff, and his family couldn't be there.
They alternate each year between our family and his wife's family in Florida.
We sure missed getting to see them.

The kids got all sorts of neat gifts from their grandparents.
I especially loved all the precious outfits my mom gave Taylor.
I'm going to have fun dressing her up in all these new clothes. ;-)

On of the last days we were there, my dear Dad---
who also happens to be the best dentist around---
he and I spent an afternoon at his dental office.

He  took some impressions and made me a new splint for my jaw.
It's to hopefully help with my darn TMJ pain I've been having.
And yes, inevitably, it wouldn't be same with me in one of his patient chairs
if I didn't cause a little drama... ;-)
I've never been a good patient for him.

He got my splint finished and it's already helping eliminate my jaw pain.
I'm so thankful for the time he took to make it.
He's so thoughtful and caring like that.

We really enjoyed getting to hang out with my family while we were in town.
I just hate that I got so sick the last two days we were there.
That kind of put a damper on the trip.

In my next post, I'll share the pictures I took from our Christmas get-together with Jody's family.

  1. Well, give yourself a big high five for me. You are amazing that you traveled on a plane, then a long car ride with kids at those ages. What a huge accomplishment. Love the pictures of your family too. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thanks, Kathleen! It was quite a feat, indeed, but we survived. It was fun, but we probably won't be making a trip like that for some time until the babies are bigger. :-) So happy you stopped by the blog today. Take care...
