...Family time in the country

“I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one’s neighbor — such is my idea of happiness. And then, on top of all that, you for a mate, and children perhaps. — What more can the heart of a man desire?”
― Leo Tolstoy, Family Happiness and Other Stories

Being able to take time away from our busy lives and escape to the country is what our little family loves to do every chance we get.  Both Jody and I look forward to the day when we can enjoy a more quiet, secluded life out in the country.  We not only want this for ourselves, but we especially want this for Noah.  He is such an outdoorsy kid and we really feel that he will thrive in so many areas of his life by growing up and spending more time out in nature...tromping around on our land and getting to help take care of horses, donkeys and chickens.   All things we hope to have someday.  We continue to chart our course of action for when we can make this happen and move forward and build on our land in the Texas Hill Country.  Until that day comes, we try to take advantage of any opportunity we can to visit our property and spend time together as a family away from the hustle and bustle of our life living in the city.

We had some time to do this as a family two weeks ago and it was so wonderful.  As I mentioned in my previous post, we rented a cute little house/cottage in Wimberley and spent a week there.  We were able to de-stress, relax and recharge our batteries while there---which turned out to be so beneficial for all three of us.

When we visit the Austin/San Antonio area....we love to stop in and grab one of the fabulous burgers at the CenterPoint Station.   Oh my...they are so dang good!

And while we wait around for our burgers to be made, I enjoy looking around at all the beautiful antiques and other lovely jewelry, clothing and home decor they have for sale there...

We enjoyed spending more time with Jody's family....
My brother, Brian and his wife, Katherine and their kiddos drove down to stay with us while we were there.  The cousins had a blast playing together.
We took them over to see our land....

Before they left to head back to Dallas, we ate together at Miss Mae's BBQ...a local favorite in Wimberley.  We had such a fun time hanging out with family while we were in the Hill Country.
