Sunday thoughts...

Noah is spending this next week with my parents for his Spring Break, so with him being gone, I had an unusual Sunday church experience today.  I didn't have to fight the normal struggle we have during sacrament meeting of keeping little man quiet and still.  I didn't have to chase him around the gym after church nor did I have try to wrestle him into the car when it was time to leave.  ;-)  A little dramatic, I know---but a mostly true account for us on Sundays at church.

But today, since he's enjoying some quality time with his grandparents,  I actually had a rather quiet Sunday where I enjoyed sitting peacefully and listening to all the talks that were given during our sacrament meeting and the lessons that followed in Sunday school.  It felt a little weird not having Noah there (in fact, I am already missing him really bad),  but I did leave church today feeling very much spiritually uplifted.  Something I think I have needed.  I had this one constant thought swirling around in my head and heart during most of our meetings today....I can DO BETTER.

I can do better with serving my fellow man.
I can do better with fulfilling my calling at church.
I can do better at fulfilling my role as both wife and mother.
I can do better at loving those people in my life that I truly struggle to love.
I can do better at forgiving others.
I can do better at looking for opportunities to bless the lives of others.
I can do better at supporting my husband with all his weighty work and church responsibilities.
I can do better at developing my own God-given talents.
I can do better at being patient and waiting on the Lord.
I can do better at trusting in the Lord and his timing.
I can do better at studying my scriptures daily.
I can do better at building a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father and the Savior.

I'm grateful for Sundays like I experienced today....
Sundays where I feel the Spirit so strongly during my church meetings and
inevitably walk away with a stronger understanding of why I need to be working
at improving myself....being a better wife, mother and daughter of God.

As children of God, we are all a work in progress.
We are going to make mistakes while in this mortal journey of ours and yet,
it's comforting to know that a loving Heavenly Father
is understanding and mindful of our faults and shortcomings.
So much that he sent his son, Jesus Christ, his only begotten,
to help us, to teach us the correct principles of our Father and then to atone for our sins and mistakes.

It's incredibly humbling for me when I ponder this amazing gift the Savior has given each of us.
I will forever be grateful to Him...not only for his sacrifice,
but also for his great example in showing us how and why we need to always love and care for one another.
It inspires me to be better.

"Be one who nurtures and builds.
Be one who has an understanding and a forgiving heart,
who looks for the best in people.
Leave people better than you found them."
