Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum

On a whim, Katherine and I decided to take the kids to the Autumn at the Arboretum in Dallas.  Each year, the Dallas Arboretum hosts a pumpkin festival at their storybook pumpkin village.  It's been years since I've been to the Arboretum, so I was excited to go.  When we walked in, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was--the last time I had been there was for a friends wedding almost ten years ago. The fall foliage and all the brightly colored pumpkins are such a sight to see.   I don't think I've ever seen this many pumpkins...they were everywhere.  According to one of the Arboretum employees, there had somewhere around 40,000 pumpkins spread about the pumpkin village.

Lola and Noah had a great time touring the storybook village together and getting their faces painted.  They were so precious to watch holding hands and giggling together.  Ava was at school and so she didn't get to go with us.  The weather was perfect that day for us to walk around and enjoy all the beautiful fall foliage and autumn decorations.

The happy cousins, Lola- 3yrs old and Noah- 5yrs old

He had a hard time saying bye to this sweet animal...

The face painting station was quite the hit with all the kids.  We had to wait in line for over 30 minutes.  They had several design choices to choose from and Lola and Noah each picked out their own design.

Afterwards, they both ran over to the mirror to see how they looked.

Too funny...Noah immediately got into character by growling at all the other kids.  Argh!!

I gotta say, she did an amazing job--his eyes looked amazing and scary!

He couldn't wait to get back to our hotel room and show his Daddy...after scaring him he said, "Daddy--I scared you to death, didn't I?"

Jody laughed and said, "Yep sure did!"

He couldn't steal himself away from our hotel mirror---it was pretty entertaining to watch. ;-) He was very unhappy with mommy later that night when it came time for bath time and he had to wash off his scary face.  Oh the drama...whew--there was a lot! ;-)

We had a wonderful time at the Dallas Arboretum this year...and a big hug and thank-you to Katherine, Lola and Baby Otto for letting us tag along and enjoy the fun with you guys.
