A little boy's adventure making cupcakes.

Noah and I decided to make a batch of cupcakes Friday afternoon. This was a new adventure for us....making cupcakes together. He was super excited about it.

He did such a great job making sure all the ingredients were added correctly and working the blender (with a little help from his mama, of course!).

I showed him pictures from this book of different ways we could design his cupcakes ... he didn't seem very interested in the book's designs. ;-)

I decided it would be much easier for him to dole out the batter by using our handy-dandy pancake batter dispenser. It worked beautifully.

After pouring the batter and placing the cupcakes in the oven...I taught him how this is the best time to clean up the mess made in the kitchen while you are waiting for your cupcakes to bake.

He loves getting to help me wash dishes in the sink...mainly because it involves playing with the water and the soap dispenser, which he loves.

20 minutes later...the cupcakes were fully baked!

After waiting another 20-30 minutes for them to cool, Noah was so excited to begin decorating his cupcakes. We decided to go with the pastry bag to lay the icing on the tops of the cupcakes.

It took his precious, little 4-year old hands and fingers a little while to get used to using a pastry bag, but he got the hang of it after a while. I was proud of him, he never got frustrated at all through the process.

Once he had finished icing his cupcakes....

And mama had finished icing hers...

He decided he wanted to add some color and flair to them.

So we pulled out the gel icing and the sprinkles....

And he went to town with these!

He was quite proud of himself with his finished cupcakes...and so was his mama!

What fun we had in the kitchen making cupcakes together...a beautiful start to what turned out to be the best Mother's Day weekend ever!

Happy {Lovely} Monday!

XOXO...

  1. What a wonderful mother you are...making memories all along the way. Noah will always remember his beautiful mother and the loving journey through childhood you are providing for him!

  2. He did a great job with his cupcakes! I always love it when I see little boys in the kitchen, my Finn loves to 'help' me and it's so sweet to see other little boys enjoying that time too.
