Anniversary dinner at Pappas.

While we were in Dallas this past weekend, Jody and I celebrated our 9-year anniversary. He was so sweet...he made arrangements (before we arrived in Dallas) with my brother Brent and his wife, Sheri, to babysit Noah for us so we could have a date night out on the town to celebrate.

After we returned back to our hotel from our fun day at the park with all my family, I hopped in the shower to get ready for our date and Jody raced over to my brother's house to drop Noah off. He barely made it back to the hotel in time for us to make our 5:30 dinner reservations. He was showered and ready to go in 10 minutes and we pulled into Pappas Bros. Steakhouse parking lot at 5:30 sharp...whew--we made it just in the nick of time!

Jody had eaten at Pappas in Houston before, but this was my first time to eat at one of their restaurants. It is a beautiful restaurant and a classy dining experience in every way. I would recommend it for anyone who is wanting a romantic dinner. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive throughout our meal. She was also more than willing to help us out with taking pictures, too.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal ... lobster bisque, salads, shared a steak, baked potatoes and some really tasty sauteed mushrooms. It felt so nice to sit close together and reminisce about our past 9 years together. Life just seems so hectic and busy these days, it's not often that we get to sit and cuddle over a romantic dinner. I loved every single minute we had together that night.

We especially enjoyed this oh-so-tasty dessert...

After leaving Pappas with VERY full tummies...we headed over to the IMAX theatre and saw this movie. It was surprisingly, pretty darn entertaining!

We had a fantastic time on our anniversary date... and oh my goodness, we both feel so proud to be able to say we have been married 9 years. We were laughing though--we are so ready to be able to say we've been married for 10 years! It just sounds better!! ;-) I also want to thank my dear brother and sister-in-law for helping make this night so special. We are truly grateful for you taking care of Noah so we could have a date night. Love you guys so much!!

I must tell you though, I remember so clearly how fragile our relationship was that first year of marriage in our little apartment in Austin, Texas. We had both suffered the pain and sting of a failed marriage prior to meeting back up with each other, all of which can make anyone feel a bit insecure when you enter a new marriage. We were committed 110% to making our marriage special--to honor it, to value it, and to cherish it each and every day-- for we knew that Heavenly Father had brought us together...there was no question about it in either of our hearts.

I am happy to say today that we have never had a stormy relationship and literally, I can count on one hand how many arguments we have had in the past 9 years. Yeah, we have had our fair share of trying times ... times where we had to work through hurt feelings and outside stressors that can take a toll on any relationship such as careers, financial stress, infertility, parenting, etc. But through it all, we look back at all these good and bad times we've shared with a sense of pride in what we've accomplished. Without question, the good times have blessed our marriage and equally so, the hard times have also blessed our marriage and brought us closer together. There isn't another man on this earth I'd rather be married to. I have learned so many lessons these past 9 years, but probably the greatest is that life is most definitely sweeter and more fulfilling when you put your husband and/or wife first. When you make them your #1 priority. This is something that Jody and I both were committed to when we entered our put each other first and to always stay close to the Lord. This level of commitment has {time and time again} strengthened our marriage.

I love my hubby with all my heart and will forever cherish this special anniversary date we shared together.
