We had a beautiful and relaxing Easter weekend. I love this holiday for many reasons...the colors are so vibrant and cheerful -- they seem to lift my spirits. Watching Noah decorate his Easter eggs is so much fun--lots of giggling and laughing. And then of course, his anticipation of the Easter bunny's arrival is just precious. By the time Easter morning rolled around, Noah could barely contain his excitement to see what the Easter bunny had left in his basket. Gosh, I am going to miss these days when he gets older...I don't even like thinking about that.

As I sat in church today and listened to the last speaker during our sacrament meeting share his thoughts on the Savior and the Atonement, my heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of love for the Savior. I had a quiet and reverent moment during this time to ponder in my heart what the Savior actually did for me {and you}. It is hard for me to fathom the immense physical and emotional pain He suffered for each of us. To know that He gave His life so that we could have the opportunity to live with Him, our Father in Heaven and our loved ones again is the greatest of all gifts. It is humbling to think that He felt each of our pains and sorrows so that He may comfort us in our time of need. The test for us is to turn to Him and accept this gift. We need to not only believe in Him, but truly believe Him.

He knows what it feels like to be picked last on the playground.
He knows what it feels to battle addiction.
He knows what it feels to be a father out of work.
He knows the struggles of a single mother trying to care for her children.
He knows the pain of losing a loved one.
And for me personally...He knows the sorrow of living with infertility and not being able to bear children.

He knows all of these things and many more because He personally felt and experienced them in the Garden of Gethsemane and Golgotha's Hill as He completed the Atonement.

"And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."
-Alma 7:12

I am grateful this Easter day for the many blessings I have in my life...I know that they are all possible because of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

XOXO...
