Newly Remodeled Bedroom Unveiled + a GIVEAWAY!!

2010-09-29 master bedroom final

So here's the scoop on our Master Bedroom remodel...

When we first purchased our new {older} home last December, we were fortunate in that the previous owners had remodeled (or given a slight face-lift) to all the rooms and kitchen in our 1950's home--all the rooms that is except for the master bedroom.

I don't think we would have gone forward with the purchase of our home if they had not already done so much work to update it.

For the first 4 or so months after we moved in, the master bedroom became a storage/junk room for all our stuff. The hubby and I would often sit in here in the evenings and plan/dream about different design ideas for this area of the house. The bathroom is pretty tiny, so we at one point thought about knocking out the wall and extending it, but we decided in the end to not go that route. It would have eaten up too much space in our bedroom area.

At the end of April, the Hubby took a sledgehammer to the bathroom and alas, that is when the remodeling began. It has been a work in progress since then as we were doing it on a shoe-string budget, but we definitely feel that the sweat, stress and inconvenience of it all was well worth it in the end.

So without further ado...

Here are some before pictures ...

YIKES!!!

And, now, the finished product...

TA--DA!!!!

{well, almost finished...we still want to add a chair or two for the room and maybe a blue vintage/shabby-chic chest of drawers at some point.}

  4. I LOVE Christmas & go all out for it!! If I had room I would have many trees. As it is, I do 3. One in the DD's room. One for my Mary Kay open house & then the main one. For the main tree, I switch out the theme for it every year or two and then decorate the rest of the house to coordinate with it.(I have about 12-15 large totes of Christmas decorations.)

  11. I love Christmas. I have been buying Christmas decor since I was about 16. I had it planned before I ever had my own tree. I go crazy at the after Christmas sales every year and I forget what I bought and put away, so its like an early Christmas when I unpack the decorations. I took over the family Christmas get together 2 years ago from my Grandmother. I love planning the event and it takes weeks of prep time. I can't wait til it gets here.

  52. Beautiful redo on the '50s house. You and hubby are skilled. Your house has good "bones" and you fleshed them very nicely. I would love to decorate any season with simplicity. Bits here 'n there to identify the season, but leave my home's look intact.

  69. I ALWAYS go nuts for Christmas. My parents normally can't be bothered any more to decorate beyond putting the presents under the tree, so I'm in charge of droing the tree itself, hanging lights, setting up the Christmas-y figures, etc. It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun!
