The Hunt and the Heat.

Little man attends a preschool that is founded on the Lutheran faith. It has been interesting for us to learn more about this faith through his attendance at this school. Although we are not Lutherans, we have been impressed with the focus they place on Christ and teaching the children about His life. In addition to the well-rounded academic standards they have in place for the classrooms, they sing songs of Jesus, they read poems about Jesus and they pray to Jesus-- added faith-based teachings he would never experience in a more mainstream preschool setting.

On Tuesday, after having Friday and Monday off for the Easter holiday, his preschool had a "Hallelujah Hunt" for the children. They each were asked to bring in a dozen, candy filled eggs along with their Easter baskets. The kids could barely contain their excitement as it came time to hunt Easter eggs. Our little man was especially excited about this event. All in all, it was great fun for all the children. Little man was distracted in the beginning of the hunt...he was more interested in catching a few bugs, {but after some rather excited encouragement from his mommy to get going} he caught on and began an a very animated search for his Easter eggs. It was a bit hot and humid that day, but this only seemed to bother the parents and teachers...the kids didn't let the heat slow them down one bit.

And, speaking of HEAT..the dog days of summer seem to be approaching much more quickly down in the Rio Grande Valley than I remember...it surged well into the 90's this week! In an attempt to cool off {and well, to squash a major sugar craving}, we made a run for the local DQ for some ice cream cones...little man had a blast trying to eat his cone before it melted.

ice cream everywhere

Happy Friday!

P.S. Congratulations to my cousin Casey and her husband Ethan....TLC just made an announcement -- they have picked up their show and will now air it as a series later this year...Quintuplet Surprise!
