Thanksgiving 2008

Today was such a great day. We all slept in (something we haven't done in quite a while). At around 10am, we started preparing our Thanksgiving feast, which consisted of:
  • Ham
  • Macaroni and Cheese (my mother-in-law has a fantastic recipe!!!)
  • Baked beans with bacon
  • Sister Shuebert's homemade rolls
  • Pecan pie (with chocolate chips)
It all tasted wonderful and by the end, I was miserable because I ate way too much. I'll admit it, I was a little homesick for a Thanksgiving in Texas today, but it was nice to celebrate the holiday at home as a family and be able to relax together and not rush around to this event or that.

After we finished eating, Jody was so sweet, he helped me clean the kitchen and load the dishwasher- all of which I was grateful for because it made the work go much faster with the two of us. Following our wonderful meal, we watched some football on t.v. for a little while and then decided to go to Wal-Mart to buy some Christmas gifts for Noah. He was so excited when we got to the toy aisle...it was really cute to see the excitement on his face. We want to get him this battery-operated Jeep that he can sit in and drive. We found out when we got there that they go on sale tomorrow, so Jody is going to drive back over to Wal-Mart tomorrow at 5am (hopefully) to get one. Noah is all into trucks right now so I am sure he will love this gift. We also bought him a few new books while we were there. We decided to go ahead and let him have one to read on the way home from the store. It's a Christmas book that has buttons you press and it plays Christmas songs. He loves it!!! In fact so much, he played it the entire drive home from the store.
